Free and fun discovery tour in the town centre of La Londe les Maures

La Londe les Maures is a young commune, in the heart of a land of history.
The Gaoutabry dolmen, the largest megalithic tomb in the Var region in terms of surface area, attests to human occupation of our land 4800 years ago.

Vast agricultural estates were formed in the Middle Ages on a territory that was in the hands of the Carthusian monks of La Verne and other religious figures for nearly six centuries. In this almost human desert, a castrum, a fortified village, was established on the heights of Les Bormettes by the middle of the 13th century at the latest.

At the time of the Revolution, the immense religious properties were succeeded by large and numerous bourgeois estates. The population is still only 130 inhabitants, scattered in a few bastides and hamlets.
It is a rich vein of zinc that will give birth to the village.
